Day 7: Morning Update

I call this picture “little orphan feet”

Today…  Merry Christmas Eve!

I don’t know all the details of today, but it didn’t start out that great.  While walking to the shower room, I slipped on a big pile of dog crap….  And then someone was in the shower, so, back to our room I traveled.  However…  once the shower finally opened up, I enjoyed getting “clean” and feel somewhat ready for the day.

Joe had a rough night as he got the “Haitian Happiness.”   Fortunately we found some Imodium AD in the bathroom, so he seems to be doing better.  However, my stomach isn’t feeling all that great, so I fear I may be next (though maybe I will make it through.)  I am not sure if there is really a way to avoid getting it or not.  Our bodies are just not accustomed to the food & water (even filtered isn’t filtered by US standards.)  I have been avoiding the meat, which I think has been a wise choice.

We will start our morning by bagging more rice & beans.  And then we will most likely start our baby watching.  I also think we will frost cookies after lunch, so the day will be broken up a bit.  I think we leave for the Trimble’s at 5:30pm for our candlelight service and “feast.”  Hopefully Joe will be feeling normal by then.

I will try to do better at posting today (with my little updates.)  Yesterday was just plain insane.

  2. Oh Jill...nasty. DON'T eat the salad!! The meat is ok I think. "peal it, cook it, or leave it" is our travel clinic motto. Brady and I didn't get sick...but we were also only there 5 days total. That dog shit is everywhere too! My mom warned me about that. blech. Heidi
